MFT Stamps 2018 Design Superstar challenge

MFT STAMPS Card Design Superstar?

My first challenge since my 1st and only challenge in 2012.  I decided to do a couple of cards for the challenge.

My first card is for the "Clean and Simple Genius" category.  Well let me tell you, CAS  is never a design I go to.  I always tend to "complicate" things.  But for this challenge, I got an idea in my head and just went with it.  I think it would be considered CAS.

I started out by masking and stamping the images from MFT's Sweet Succulents stamp set.  Then I did the background using the MFT Scattered Bars stencil.  I used Pumice Stone Distress ink for the stencil.  Then, while my masks were still on, I used MFT's Distressed Patterns stamp set to add some "splatters".  And then I set out coloring with my Zig clean color markers.  I think this is the second time I've used them.  After the coloring was complete, I added a white embossed sentiment on a strip of MFT's Black Licorice card stock from the "Anything- But -Basics birthday wishes" Stamp set.  I die the cute the image panel with the large rectangle from the Blueprints 15 die set and mounted it to  MFT's Grout Gray card stock. Here is a picture of the finished project.

I was happy with it.  I hope you like it.

I also decided to enter the Coloring Virtuso category.  Well, this is a stretch.  I do love to color and most of the time it turns out pretty good.  Copics are so forgiving.  :-)

For this card, I used the Birdie Brown, Which Way to the Candy stamp set.  I did a whole lot of stamping and masking to make a row of pumpkins to anchor the cute little witch and for a perch for the cat and hiding place for the little frog, both of whom appear to be under the cute little witch's spell.

After I had all of my images masked off, I copic colored the night sky, creating a moon and then once that was complete, I added some Copic Opaque white ink splatters.  Then I used a gazillion Copics to color the stamped images.  I didn't time the sky, but the images took well over an hour to color.

I must stay I love how it came out.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set.  Added Glitter Gloss from the Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen to pretty much everything, added some glossy accents to the cats bow tie, the buckle on the witch's hat and her shoes, and to the frog's eyes.  I glued the image panel to MFT's Black Licorice card stock after die cutting it with MFT's large rectangle from the Blueprints 15.

And here it is, I am so happy with how it turned out.

And here is one showing a little more of the shimmer.

And here is a picture of them both together.  I spent a lot of time on these guys this weekend and it was so much fun.  I make a lot of cards for work, but i have been neglectful in getting them on my blog.  I have to change that!

Thanks for stopping by and I would love to know "witch" one "sticks" out as your favorite and wish me luck.

Gerda Steiner coffee monsters

Hi, here is a card I made for my 14 year old nephew who just had spinal surgery.  I know, sounds rough, and it was and is.

We wanted to send him a gift card and wanted to cheer him up and what better way to cheer someone than with some cute coffee monsters.  I colored these little guys while we were traveling back home from PA.  I used my prismacolor pencils to bring them to life.  I think they turned out pretty cute, considering I haven't ever really colored with these pencils.  I am so rusty on lots of things.  Any way,  here they are.  He did say the card cheered him up, so that's good news.

This is the front of the card.  Each monster represents a member of our family.  :-)

This is the inside of the card.

I hope you like these little guys as much as I do and as much as my nephew did.

Have a great day, and until next time, thank you for being kind to animals.
